From generations to
generations music has been a cornerstone of social expression to all
communities in the face of the world. This art form suited all kinds of
occasion; it is used to entertain, comfort, protest, worship, praise, boost
morale, educate etc. it always passes the message across. A music main purpose
is to expression and modulates emotions.
I always listened to
music to get the message behind; I listened to songs that inspired me the most,
growing up in the family that loved music helped me to understand this
beautiful art form better. This is the reason why I never struggled to listen
to any genre of music. I listened to almost every genre except to the few or
many that I was never exposed to. I listened to music most of the time to get
the message behind it and be inspired. I compiled some of the most
inspirational songs. I believe they are the must heard songs
1 A change is gonna come (Sam Cooke)
#Quote “There been times when I
thought I couldn’t last for long, but now I think I’m able to carry on”
This line here is the line that
you need to hear when you think you have enough and you have no hope and feel
like giving up, it will remind you that you not alone; there are many out there
and probably carrying more than yours. Hang in there A change is gonna come.
2 Don’t worry be happy (Bobby McFerrin)
#Quote “In every life we have
some trouble. But when you worry, you make it double”
In the bible Jesus said who can
add an hour to his life by worrying? Indeed worrying do no good to us; mentally
and physically. When you listen to this song you will be reminded to stop
feeling sorry for yourself and be happy. A happy mind produces positive
thoughts
3 Dreamer (Slikour)
# Quote. “Change yes! Nothing
stays the same I believe we were meant to dream. And I won’t let hopelessness
bring me down for the rest of my life”
This is one of the best
inspirational songs from South Africa (my country). Listening to this song just
gives you a break from allowing hopelessness to overcome you and keep you down.
Keep dreaming dreamer and chase your dreams. Never give up hope.
4 Can’t give up now (Mary Mary)
#Quote. I just can’t give up now;
I’ve come to far from where I started from. Nobody told me the road would be
easy, and I don’t believe He brought me this far to leave me.
Giving up is not an option. I
used to listen to this song every Sunday from the late Fana Khabzela Khaba. I
couldn’t wait for that man to open his mouth and speak his street wisdom and
instil hope into his audiences.
5 Living on the front line (Eddy Grant)
#quote Do all my brother in
Africa/ all stop shooting your brother
One of the saddest part of being
an African; is watching documentaries, news and internet videos and see black
on black violence and wars, African brothers brutally killing one another. This
is one song that can inspire you to strive for peace instead of letting hate
and anger overwhelm you.
6 I can (Nas)
#Quote. If the truth is told/ the
youth can grow/ then learn to survive until they gain control/ nobody says you
have to be gangsters, hoes/ read more learn more change the globe.
I can is one song that can
construct a great vision of every black child and flush out deception and mind
control out of their system.
7 Word to the wise (Nose)
#Quote. Word to the wise/ the
passion in their hearts/No stressing but pressing through hard times/ they see
possibilities/when life is not giving any peace.
This is the song right here, you can listen to it. https://soundcloud.com/nose_1989/word-to-the-wise
There are lot of songs out there
that inspire and spread the message that can spark a mind that can make that
little change in the world. Keep listening to music and receive the message. Stop
piracy and buy original, musicians also need to make a living and afford to
keep making music.
