Being a
leader comes with responsibilities; many fail and leave bitterness in people’s
lips. These are the kind of leaders that are bossy, greedy, hate opposition,
and selfish etc….. Now a great leader is he who is selfless and put others
first and the million dollar question is HOW TO BECOME A GREAT LEADER. Here are
some tips I compiled.
1 Strive to
serve
Life is not
about being served but serving; lot of people forget the art of serving the
moment they enter the space of authority. They take the whole world as their
own and seek to dominate people. Remember people cannot be dominated; all
things in the world can be dominated but people. So focus on serving people not
dominating them.
2 Be a role
model
Always lead
by example, know the happenings on the ground level and deal with them before
they elevate and be considered a problem. Share your skills of handling issues
with your people on the ground.
3 Open a
room for input
Being in
authority don’t mean you know all things; while sharing your skills with your
juniors, learn also from them. Allow them to voice their views and learn from
them without hiding that you are always open to learn. Remember learning never
stops and he who claim to know it all shame will always caught up.
4 Take
criticisms
A man who
takes criticism never stops growing and don’t create enemies. Always allow
criticisms to be shot your direction so that you can learn from your mistake
and bring solution. A man who don’t take criticism leave problems unsolved because
he has a foolish point to prove. Don’t be wise in your own eyes; let people
rank you.
5 Operate in
wisdom
Wisdom is a
key to success; always learn the art of listening and understanding before
opening your mouth. That is wisdom at its maximum because he who listens speaks
wholesome and words of wisdom. Surround yourself not with people who fear you
but respect you; those who will correct you instead of defending your wrong
doings.
6 Motivate
Instead of
criticising, demolishing, killing morals etc. be a motivator; seek to
understand your people more than identifying and crucifying them by their
mistakes. Acknowledge that you dealing with different people who come from
different backgrounds. Carefully pay attention to them and put yourself in
their shoes while dealing with them.
The word of
God. Matthew 20:25-27 25 But Jesus called them unto Him, and said, Ye know that
the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are
great excessive authority upon them.
26 But it
shall not be so among you: but whosoever will a servant, 27 and whoever want to
be first must be your slave
